Welcome to our Farm
Summer has arrived??????????
The month is right to be summer but the weather is a bit confused.
I did think that the bugs would be much less this year because of the long snowy winter & the major flooding for spring. But as you guessed it--- I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!
It doesn't look like our orchard will be planted this season due to the ground not having a chance to properly dry enough. I sure would hate to plant expensive fruit & nut trees just to have them root rot because of the poor soggy ground.
The garden how ever is not only planted but it is growing like crazy. The veggies should be fully grown & for sale exactly on time as expected.
The new chicken coop is 95% done, the chickens are in it right now, the only thing left to do on the new coop is put on the siding. We are a week behind on getting our turkey & meat chics but thats because of the weather. Our baby birds should be hear no later than the 23'd of this month, by then we will be 2 weeks behind in the raising of the birds. But they grow fast and I dont see the slaughter timming being any different this year than it was last year. Also every one please make a mental note, this will be our last year doing turkey & meat chickens, no we are not giving up for good, we are taking a break from it because of the high cost of the feed. So this year we will have the turkeys & meat chickens and next year we wont. We are not sure when we're going to re-start the meat birds after this year but I sure will keep every one posted.
As you are all aware, there is a major hike in the cost of foods, fuels, & electricity. We are going to try to keep all prices the same, some things may have to go up in price & that wont be due to us being greedy it will be because we are going to be paying more for our supplies.
I hope the out come of all the worlds price hikes come to an end real quick, if they dont no one will be able to go to work, eat, keep warm. Just the other day I had an elder tell me that they can remember going through this very same thing way back when they were kids (The depression erra).
I did think the news last week was interesting, they were talking about the crime rate going down, yes that sounds great but I bet I know why its happening like that, none of the criminals can afford to drive to the homes to rob them & none of the drug sellers are making a profit due to the addicts not having the money to buy the junk because they cant drive to places to rob. So in an odd way this problem with price hikes seems to be doing good to lessen crime, but its ruining the lives of all the rest of the world.
And boy oh boy its been a very bad year for all of the world, from snow storms to major flooding, tornados & frost damage. I dont think any thing at all has been lucky enough to avoid this down fall towards a new depression erra. I hope every one pulls thru these tough time with their heads held high & their health still good. I hope every one has a safe & fun summer season.
Our Bakery re-opened June 1st. We will take orders of $30.00 or more during this season. We are not taking small orders at this time due to the high cost of electricity & other fuels. It costs more to bake 1 bread or make a half dozen cookies or doughnuts, so if an order of $30.00 or more comes in we will bake for that order. Sorry for any inconconvenience this may cause. If you have questions please feel free to contact us at any time.
Soaps are ready so check out the bath & body section.
